Higgs Boson Continues to Not Make Sense Shortly after the existence of the Higgs boson was quasi-confirmed , I wrote a short post noting, among other things, that I don't really understand what a Higgs boson is. This upset such commenters as ... Who Deserves a Higgs Boson Nobel? One Scientist, or Many There's the science, and then there's the glitter. As researchers celebrate the best-yet evidence of the existence of the Higgs boson, some are already thinking about who's going to get the Nobel Prize in physics for the seminal discovery. Higgs boson: It appears to be there, but what is it? (+video) Even if the newly discovered 'God particle' is not the Higgs boson as it was originally conceived, the implications of the new finding for science are still significant. The discovery is likely to provide the whole field of particle physics with a burst of momentum.  Could the Higgs boson teach us anything about dark matter? If the existence of the Higgs boson is confirmed, it would complete the Standard Model of particle physics. But does that bring us any closer to understanding a mysterious substance thought to account for more than four fifths of the total mass of the universe? Y! Big Story: In search of a simple explanation of Higgs boson, aka the God Particle Higgs boson verified at Level 5 sigma signal at around 125 GeV????? Yowza. OK, let's try this again: Scientists are now within reach of finding the so-called God particle. About 5,000 researchers divided into two teams--ATLAS and CMS--found a subatomic particle, and it could be the elusive Higgs, the polka-dotted unicorn of the physics world. Here's a "simple" explanation of what has physicists ... Higgs boson: So who is getting the Nobel? The discovery of a particle thought to be the elusive Higgs boson has prompted a new investigation: Whose names will be engraved on the Nobel Prize in Physics medal? Could the Higgs boson teach us anything about dark matter? (+video) If the existence of the Higgs boson is confirmed, it would complete the Standard Model of particle physics. But does that bring us any closer to understanding a mysterious substance thought to account for more than four fifths of the total mass of the universe? Why the Higgs boson announcement is so important (+video) The discovery of a new particle thought to be the elusive Higgs boson represents the culmination of nearly 50 years of research, and completes a theory about how the most basic constituents of matter interact with each other. Why the Higgs boson announcement is so important The discovery of a new particle thought to be the elusive Higgs boson represents the culmination of nearly 50 years of research, and completes a theory about how the most basic constituents of matter interact with each other. New particle fits description of elusive Higgs boson, scientists say Scientists said Wednesday that they had discovered a new particle whose characteristics match those of the Higgs boson, the most sought-after particle in physics, which could help unlock some of the universe's deepest secrets.
Key Words: Higgs boson
